about this item
The back page of this issue of the Scottish Poetry Library newsletter
features Edwin Morgan's poem 'At Eighty' and an advert for the pamphlet
in which it had been recently published, Unknown
Is Best: A Celebration of Edwin Morgan at Eighty (SPL/Mariscat,
2000). A small article describes Morgan's 80th birthday party at
the Kibble Palace, a giant glasshouse in Glasgow's Botanic Gardens.
"There
was music by Tommy Smith, readings by Ron Butlin, Tom Leonard, Liz
Lochhead and Gael Turnbull, and the presentation of a book of poems
[Unknown is Best] in his honour, under the joint imprint of his long-time
publisher, bibliographer and friend, Hamish Whyte at the Mariscat Press,
and his first-time publishers but no less long-standing admirers, the
Scottish Poetry Library."
