More about this item
44 limericks about animals, alphabeticised by name, from 'The Amoeba'
to 'The Zebu'.
The cover image features the rat: "A highly intelligent
rat / Was reading the Rubáiyát". Other creatures have
similarly sophisticated tastes, like the carp who can "dance it
like Twyla Tharp"; elsewhere Edwin Morgan plays with sound and spelling,
for example rhyming "Torquil" and "snorkel" in 'The
Otter'.
Mariscat published an edition of 350 copies.
